Starting Treatment for Metastatic Prostate Cancer

My prostate cancer diagnosed Gleason 3 + 3 in 2011 and treated with brachytherapy in 2011 is now a metastatic disease with many lymph nodes involved. Today I took the first Casodex pill in preparation for the first Lupron shot in two weeks time. Previously, I was treated with ADT and cyberknife in 2016/2017 for a local recurrence in a mass outside the prostate.

With your disease now in the metastatic realm with many lymph nodes involved (as is mine), I recommend that you get a second opinion from an oncologist who specializes in prostate cancer.

I did get a second opinion and I also attended a meeting with RO, MO, and Uro. The consensus is that I need systemic disease treatment. Radiating the lymph nodes may not be a good idea because of the high dose radiations is previously received for cyberknife and brachytherapy. Surgery to remove all the lymph nodes is not practical.

I am going with hormone treatment with a MO in a large cancer hospital, who specializes in prostate cancer.
