Lutetium 177 PSMA therapy clinics in Europe.

Hi, I need you help!

My dad, 62 of age, has suffered from prostate cancer for a few years now and he is now in a really bad condition after several treatments here in Sweden. Among them are first an operation, radiation, chemo therapy, and hormone treatment. This is what his last medical journal says:

PSA 178. There is strong PSMA activity in the wide-spread sclerotic bone metastases; in the base of the skull on the left, in almost every vertebra and costa, scapulas, claviculas, sternum and in the pelvic (iliac bones and sacrum).

Above the diaphragm tere are very small, but PSMA-active lymph nodes in the mediastinum paratracheally and subcarinally. Also both sides in the lung hiluses there are active lymph nodes.

The last doctor also said that the cancer has transformed to now be aggressive. The doctors here in Sweden don’t have anything more to offer so he went to Docrates Cancer Clinik in Helsinki, Finland last week. They have stopped offering new clients the Lutetium 177 PSMA therapy and instead they offered him Immuno Oncological Theraphy.

But he rather wants to do the Lutetium 177 PSMA therapy, so therefor I wonder if you know any places I can contact here in Europe? As his cancer is in a really bad state now he needs to get on a treatment asap. Therefor it would help if you know a clinic that accepts patients asap.

I would contact Uwe Haberkorn at the University of Heidelberg- not only did he develop Lu-177-PSMA-617, but he is working on some ligands and radioemitters that may be even better:

Hi - yes, many members of this forum have gone to Heidelberg, Munich Technical University, or Bad Berka for treatment. The Peter Mac Institute in Melbourne is also a great place to get it.

I have read that the best place in the world for Lu-177 treatment is Germany. I think there are centers in Heidelberg, Munich and maybe Bonn and others too. University Hospital in Heidelberg is one place where they do this treatment.

I'm thinking that this treatment may be ideal for your Dad since he has strong PSMA activity in his metastases. Failing other treatments like ADT and chemotherapy doesn't mean there is any resistance to the PSMA-Lu-177 treatment. It is a completely unrelated treatment. If it doesn't work, or even if it does, your Dad might also want to try the experimental immunotherapy. However if it were me I think I'd want to try the Lu-177 first because we already know that the cancer has strong PSMA markers and, if I understand the theory correctly, they should strongly attract the PSMA antibodies with attached Lu-177 radioactive atoms. Hopefully, the side effects will also be small since PSMA is prostate cell specific and the radiation dose to other tissues should be quite small.

I went there for a GA-68 PSMA to identify tumors post surgery.

I know they also do Lu-177 although it was not suitable for me.

I hope this information is not too late for you but I just read your post this evening.

In principle treatment would be possible in Munich. contact [e-mail]

They perform LuPSMA every Monday and would require a PSMA PET scan prior the first cycle to see that target expression of PSMA is high enough. Could you get this scan done locally?

In addition, they would like to see recent lab tests..

There is also an Upcoming Phase 111 study in the USA
