Some time ago I gave a list of drugs that I took for neuropathy. I left one out. Here is the complete list with an explanation.

1. Mirapex 1 tablet 0.25mg - prescription

2. Gabapentin 2 capsules (300mg) - prescription

3. Acetyl L-Carnitine 1 capsule 500mg - over the counter

4. Leg Cramps (by Hylands) 2 tablets over the counter

5. Aleve PM 2 220mg - over the counter. Because Aleve can cause liver damage with long term use I have substituted Zyflamend 1 capsule.

I take each of these drugs at least 20 minutes apart in the early evening. This helps me get a good nights sleep. The effects last all day long.

With the recent scare about opioids gabapentin is now the go to replacement drug for nerve pain. I have been on gabapentin for a little over a year with no real side effects. I suppose in the months to come they will find long term use harmful.

Did you ever try Alpha Lipoic Acid for the neuropathy? Prescribed in Germany for diabetic neuropathy and I had excellent results for my post chemo and also then for my diabetes.

Dr. Myers had me taking Alpha Lipoic Sustain for neuropathy due to chemo. Seems to help. Dr. Sartor who replaced Myers after he retired has no problem with me continuing with it.

I do take Alpha Lipoic Acid but that alone does not help my neuropathy.

did you ever think about taking cannabis oil?

You know someone that cannabis helped for neuropathy?

Some brothers on this site say it works for them. Try searching in the search bar.

I have thought about it. As long as the drugs and supplements I take work I will stay with then. If they begin to fail I would most definitely consider cannabis oil.

My neuropathy isn’t related to my PC. Had it for 20 years but it is moving up toward my knees. All the drs do tests and say yep they are numb. No reason figured out. Just looking for treatment anymore.

My neuropathy is due to a drug that I was on years ago. I am not sure if any of drugs or supplements will help you or not. The mirapex might help. Have any doctors pin pointed a cause?

I’ll check it out. Certainly couldn’t hurt to try.
