Vision Loss after Chemo

Wondering if anyone has had vision loss after/during chemo? I just got my 5th dose of Radium 223, a couple of days later my right eye was blurry and then I lost 80% of vision in that eye! The Oncologists say not tumor related and the opthomologist say they don't see anything wrong either! (After a couple of MRI's were done). I started taking steroids just in case there was inflammation somewhere and started taking Billberry, which is really good for eye health. Anyone else have this problem??? It's freaking me out!

After chemo. #9, double to quad. vision ,blurry enough i couldn't focus in on my wife across the room. Slowly improved for a while. Now need new glasses. Been four months since last chemo., but #9 tried to kill me--see profile. It wasn't one eye and didn't really loose vision, just screwed me up for a while. Any thing with eyes freaks you out!! Hoping yours returns to near normal too.

Thanks Doug, been 2 weeks now. Taking some steroids to see if will help, but nothing yet! I still have hope!

I had weepy eye a lot during Chemo and now have occasional blurred vision. Hope that goes away but it's only at the annoying level.

Hello Jashelby,

I hope the steroids and Billberry are helping. Goodness, I am with you that a side effect of losing sight would freak me out also.

So sorry you are experiencing this and am hoping you are getting better.

Unless something changes, I will get getting radium 223 in the near future.

If you don't mind my asking...where are you receiving treatment ?

Take Care,

Monty

While I was on chemo my eyes were pretty odd, couldn’t focus them reading was not going to happen, but after I was done with the chemo the eyes slowly got better. Still not back to where they were before but I’ll accept it.

I’m 10 weeks out from completion of 6 cycles of chemo with docetaxel, and have had some intermittent issues with bluriness in both eyes, more annoying than worrisome, but it’s bad enough to be on my list to discuss with my PCa MO in July, and with the ophthalmologist who did cataract surgery on both eyes 2 years ago, when I see him for a scheduled follow up later this month. My bluriness comes and goes, and seems worse after I read for a long time (I still need reading glasses, aka “cheaters” in spite of spending $3K per eye for multifocal implanted lenses after my cataract surgeries, but that’s another rant for another time), and is most annoying trying to read street signs when driving. I’m hoping that it will gradually go away, along with my alopecia and minor neuropathy in a couple of fingertips that are all postchemo side effects. Hope yours gets back to normal soon as well.
