Hi all, was dx in march '17 with stage 4, gleason 9 at 56 yo. Mests in feet left knee spine shoulder . I am on casodex daily and lupron shots once a month. My psa is undetectable and test. Nasty stuff: Hi all, was dx in march... - Advanced Prostate...
Nasty stuff
Mklc you too?
Talk to your oncologist about adding Zytiga or Docetaxel. Your testosterone is on the high side (below 30 is better), and why are you getting monthly shots of Lupron rather than longer lasting shots?
Thanks for Responding Tall Allan. The first thing my oncologist did was give me 6 cycles "upfront" chemo, once every 3 wks. I was getting shots every 3 months but when he saw my testosterone at 39 he changed it to monthlly. He wants to see testasterone at 20 or lower. Went for labs this morning. We'll see. My ass is running out of space for shots!
It sounds like you're in good hands.
Just got labs, testostrone Is up to 46% from 39. Worrying
Did you ask your oncologist about zytiga?
Im next appt. with him isnt till July. My Urologist ordered this bloodwork. What is zytiga, how does it work?
I personally found that the monthly Lupron shots resulted in no side effects ( hot flushes, fatigue, etc.). The first couple of months of the 4 month shots were very uncomfortable.
My once a month shots are giving me massive hot flashes, maybe im doing something wrong
No your not that is what happens. Magace also called mgestrol will take care of those. Ill throw all other meds out but my magace!
I've read bad things about megace fueling some types of prostate cancer, according to a Dr Sartor. There are comments about this on this site.
I just googled and got this:
My doc. says accupunture works, dont know if im down with that!
I have been taking it over seven years. Was undetectable for that many years. Doesn't seem to be adding to my cancer.
Estradiol patches changed twice weekly reduce hot flushes dramatically. Prescription required.
Bob
Thanks break illl ask my urologist next week
