Dropping Stuff

I find that I'm constantly dropping stuff. It appears that my sense of touch or ability to grasp things ain't what it use to be. It's not dramatic, just an annoyance. Like if I'm eating nuts or popcorn a lot more ends up on the floor now. When I take a twist top off a bottle, I'll drop it half the time. Rarely happened in the old days. Someone told me it could be the medicine I'm on - Lupron and Xgeva. I'm only 58 so I don't think it an age issue.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm 65, today -and, I've had this symptom for years - I think it's an age-thing.

I have this problem too.

It is also a symptom of neuropathy, but in that that case there is tingling in the fingers which I don't have. I've had chemo, but had the problem before that.

in reply to

Neuropathy I have intensely with dumbness in thumb and first two fingers .Also fandom pains like electrical volts Dow to pins and needles with burning pain. Without the RSO I m screwed. With it I’m improving..

What's RSO?

Rick Simpson Oil - derived from cannabis/hemp. The Canadian original promoter, Rick Simpson, makes all kinds of claims about it's efficacy for all kinds of medical conditions, including cancers, and there are many imitators. Rick himself does not actually attempt to sell the product via his Canadian website, probably due to many regulatory/legal issues for unapproved / illegal medical treatments in many jurisdictions. He does sell books, provides free instructions, and solicits donations. Some say that the bulk of his claims are based on anecdotal testimonials, and not by peer-reviewed Randomized Clinical Trials. Despite that, the topic is quite wide-spread on the Internet.

I noticed that, too. Sometimes my hand shakes or is so weak that I have difficulty using my computer mouse or typing correctly. I started using handgrip strengthener's that I got on amazon for around ten dollars....after about a month of aprox 4-5x/week use, it seems to be helping.

Good idea! Thanks

At one point I couldn’t screw in a screw by hand. If I go inactive for a day now I feel more of these effects. I took a somewhat long dose of levequin, for a bad staff infection in knee that persisted for 2 months. Years later, add on local tv. Class action lawsuit against Levaquin.

in reply to

For neauropothy..

in reply to

I can't screw either, but I think it's the Lupron.

I’ve being screwing up my whole life . Even without cajones , I’m still able at night. During the day the subject or should I say my subject is aloof to even me. My old friend acts like he doesn’t even know me .But in the wee hours of the night. Bingo ! Now if i could just get my wife up lovingly at 3 in the morn. I’ll have a chance .

Hey guy I have the same thing.. in fact I’m off balance and somewhat accident prone.. All new to me and due to what?? Who knows.. It’s all getting a little better as I m increasing my workout and activities. I’m 57.. do you ever do things like look for your glasses and they’re on your head or go into another room to obtain something only to get there and have no fricking idea what you came in for? That’s my MO 50x a day now. Diminished cognitively. Some say ADT drugs cause or speed up Alzheimer s.. I’m a firm believer. I feel much .more clear after cardio.. I’m a pop corn and nuts guy also and yah there’s some spillage.. I get frustrated and mad when these things occur back to back.. to back..Mad at my own incompetence. Better to say ...se la ...ve..... I look at my skin and it looks like the skin of a 100 yr old man . I feel my clock skipped forward in the aging process to about the age of 78 now. That’s improved from how I felt in the beginning about 83. I had a 91 yr old lady neighbor and friend ,Gwen Waters, First Lady surfer in the U S A. ..San Clemente Ca.. she said i keep a dim lite in the bathroom and don’t look into mirrors... she’s since passed but she was such a close friend to me I still see her as one of the most beautiful women that I’ve ever known. Think about and try more exersize. It’s helping me to clear some of the cobwebs out.. diet also effects these things just like everything else we do ... good luck!

When that happens to me, I say I had a senior moment, It is normal, part of the ageing process. It could be hastened by the ADT drugs. In life when you are given a lemon, make lemonade,

I’m sure being in canaby oil and medical marijuana constant for 3yrs my add to a brain for .But my quality of life is in other way so much more livable and enjoyable. Forgetfulness is a small price. For the relief provided.

I too am 58 and taking Lupron. I have similar issues. I just keep adjusting to my new realities as they present themselves and decide how much I care about dealing with them, how much they impact my day-to-day life.

That's just me. I can't be bothered with the small stuff but it is good to know why you're having the symptoms.

in reply to dmt1121

Don’t sweat the small stuff. I agree .

Same here but I chalk it up to neuropathy from chemo in late 2015. Numbness in my fingers and numbness/tingling in my feet, especially when I've been walking for more than a mile or so. I've even noticed that fingers won't work touchscreen devices sometimes (which rely on electrical impulses we generate), weird stuff.

I ve had that with the touch screen. Even electronic devices feel our out of kilter chemistries. Weird but true

I'm 67, also on LHRH injections, Casodex and Avodart, and I've been dropping things noticeably more frequently for several years. I don't think it has as much to do with age as it does with my multiple blessings of carpal tunnel issues, arthritis in my hands, especially thumbs, some tendonitis and most annoying, peripheral nerve damage, likely from being prescribed Cipro for prostatitis (when I should have been investigated for PCa) It's frustrating and anger-making. It may improve when I come off triple blockade ADT in November. For now, I try to take extra care and buy extra wine glasses.

Hopefully your situation improves.

Best regards.

in reply to bigbassman

There is a connection of anti-biotics and neauropothy . I took a lot of cipro and all the other anti-biotics during a yr and 1/2 of tubes and stints folies and constant UTI s .I built immunity to all except Bactrim , in the end..Glad those days are gone. I’m left with amplified neauropathy. Diet and exercise help. Inactivity kills.

My husband has experienced similar issues with dropping things and numbness in his feet especially. His fingers would cramp noticeably while driving. He’s been on Lupron for several years and I do notice memory issues unless the topic is one that really interests him. His hands and feet are always cold. One thing I’ve observed and it may not be relevant. When he places some item on for example a counter, a portion of the item always hangs over the edge. Weird but true! Exercise seems to be helping.

in reply to donnacgorman

It like being off kilter or off balance and I’ve even become accident prone .Im gaining some strength now and these all get better . Men can even lose that infamously never wrong sence of direction.

I've noticed that too. My layman's conclusion is that it's tied to the muscle withering thing from the Lupron. I noticed my muscles wasting within 2 months of my first Lupron shot, and the dropping things. I'm hopeful that my body will adjust a little bit to less muscle mass as I go forward. Crossing fingers.

My thing is placing items on a table. Lot of times the item falls off and I have to put it back on again.

in reply to Gary94

I do that daily. Oops !

I have seen my husband do that too especially wit he plates and pots. I am always repositioning items after he places them down. He is doing cardio rehab now after having a cardiac arrest recently. He feels much better after the exercise. He just completed his third infusion of Provenge and is feeling fatigued today. Fingers crossed!

Me too, it is really annoying although it has gotten better over the last month. I think it may have been related to taking a steroid.
