Provenge and acute renal failure. My kidney function dropped by half after first Provenge infusion. Anybody else on Provenge having acute renal failure?

No. I'm not yet in the hospital. Getting my GFR tested again today to see if second Provenge infusion has caused my GFR to drop even further. If so, my GP and my MD ANDERSON oncologist will tell me what to do next. Don't know if I should get my 3rd and final Provenge infusion.

Don’t say yet.We can all say that. I wasn’t predicting just wasn’t sure. Its good to be out ! All of our decisions weigh heavy. You will do the right thing. Time for R&R.. after words.

I haven’t done provenge. Where your kidnies already weakened or damaged ,diabetes ?...

Possibly weakened by dehydration.

Hey everybody! Thanks for your concern. Turns out my latest kidney function reading taken yesterday came back normal. Don't know why previous reading was so low. Maybe an error. Anyway my third and last infusion is this Friday and I'm now going ahead with it. Then I get the chest cath out on Monday. Hoo-ray!

cullinf: so sorry to hear about this reaction with your kidneys. My Dad is 90 years old and urologist is recommending immunotherapy with Provenge. I am concerned about side effects and dad already has a benign cyst on one of his kidneys. Although urologist tells us that Dad has castrate resistant Prostate Cancer and rising PSA at 20 now, his CT and Bone scans are negative/NED; we are waiting for PET scan to then make decision about Provenge and infusions. Did your doctor explain why your kidney function drop? Dad's daughter

If you decide to try Aloe.. this is supposed to be the best and freshest Aloe you can buy... aloe1.com - it is pricey. I buy it for my husband who has cancer but I get the cheap stuff for the rest of us.

Had provenge this past fall,drank half gallon of water,every day,an still do,this was advised by my chemo nurse

GFR came back normal. Maybe previous reading was some kind of error. Anyway, all seems ok now. Thanks everybody!
