Just wondering why i didnt get a PSMA test when my psa rose 6.1 points in 3 months. Cost?

I don’t know the cost. I’ve had PCa for almost 3-years before having this test. It appears to me that this is an emerging approach and is relatively new for the treatment of prostate cancer. I learned about it on this site before the doctor recommended it.

I’d ask your medical oncologist about having one. I’m sure other members here will weigh in, too.

Hello Tjc1,having prostate cancer for 6 years now my oncoligist recomended a psma scan which showed up positive to the lymph nodes which would have been invisible to any other scan.

In this country (Australia) the Gallium 68 psma scan is not currently registered with the Therapeutic Goods Administration which is why your urologist may not have recomended it?

I was referred to a medical oncologist after refusing Lucrin injections (hormones) from the uroligist,which to me had bad side effects.
