I go to Jonathan Shamash at the LOC in Harley Street. His NHS practice is based at Queen’s Hospital, Romford and St Bartholomew’s Hospital. Definitely not a dinosaur and at the cutting edge of PCa research.
Try Dr Stephen Morris at London Bridge Hospital , & also the Cromwell Hospital in central London.
His NHS base is Guys & St Thomas’ Hospitals. He is one of the investigators on the RADICALS , & the STAMPEDE trials.
I am under his care on the NHS. I once saw him privately as I had a holiday coming up. I don’t think you get better care privately although you may have more choice about the date of the consultation.
In general the more advanced care happens at the teaching hospitals. So it does matter very much where in the UK you are. I was treated some time ago at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge and I had initial examinations by 4 different clinicians, including the Professor of Surgical Oncology, all of whom went out of their way not to presume the treatment that was going to be appropriate for me. So 10 out of 10 for objective analysis of the problem.
In the I opted for beam radio therapy with ADT to reduce the prostate siz to tighten the beam and reduce collateral damage.
I am based in Wales and see Dr Tanguay in Velindre however The Royal Marsdon is exceptional with Dr Gethart Attard a really amazing guy and David Dearnaley is an excellent radiologist. Dr Workman in Plymouth is also very well thought of. Dr Attard was a prominent figure in the stampede trial regarding Zytiga. All the above can be seen privately👍
