I am due to have keyhole surgery in a few days to have my gall bladder taken out. At the pre-op meeting the nurse appeared to know very little about Zytiga and was reluctant to approve continued use because of the possible effect on the operation. I told her I was going to take it anyway and she said she would get it checked out. Guess what, nobody has come back to me and admin staff are not available because of the Queen's platinum jubilee celebrations.
So, I was wondering if any of you guys on Zytiga have had an operation and had it approved by surgical staff, or where there any problems.
I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask you never know.
Many thanks

I just had a heart ablation, and questioned both my oncology pharmacist and the surgical team. Neither thought the zytiga would be a problem, but I did skip my dose the morning of the surgery just in case.
Concur about telling them about prednisone you may be markedly adrenally suppressed (my own cortrosyn stim test is flat) and theY may want to give you a stress dose of steroids.
I had recently started zytiga when I had general anesthesia for a hernia operation. No issues. More concern with prednisone but that turned out to be accepted too.
I have been on Zytiga for 3 years now. During that time I have had multiple Anesthesia situations without issues and Docs approved each time. Included were 2 separate stents, new hip, artificial sphincter, and anterior cervical fusion. All proceeded with NO issues......Good Luck going forward.
