Hi, my name is Raj. i was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2013. After of Hormonal Therapy and a study, I finished my Radiation last month. The new scans show the cancer is advancing and has effected some of my bones. I feel fine physically. I am starting my Chemo Therapy today with Taxoterel. lets see how it goes. I am very comfortable with the treatments I've been getting so far.

Im new here - Starting Taxotere Chemo today...
How did the chemo go Raj? Did you take any measures to battle known side effects. I wish you the best , many of us are into Chemo Now, I just had my 7th cycle, you can read my post.

Hi Dan, thanks for your feed back.I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer Nov 2013. After some hormonal treatments and some study drugs like Xtandi and Zytiga...my PSA kept fluctuating. Went for Radiation. Finished 45 days ago. My first chemo went very smooth. Really no side effects. It's been 6 hrs. Physically I feel great. Hopefully it'll be this easy for the rest of them. I'm in Raleigh, NC. How are you doing. Where are you located.
Thanks and keep in touch.
Raj
HI Raj, Glad it went well, I am in upstate NY. I hae been through 7 chemos, some of us ice our fingers to prevent the fingernails from falling off, I also ice the bottoms of my feet in hopes of preventing neuropathy, which is a known side effect, I also ice toenails and suck on ice cubes during docetaxol to prevent mouth sores and losing taste. I was diagnosed in 2006 as a stage 4 patient at 49 years old. Chemo side effects seem to be cumulative, more you get more likely side effects, I also take a light laxative the day of chemo till things start moving, I wish you the best.
I was told by pc reseacher if after the 3rd cycle if no results switch ro another such as docetaxel.Worth discussing with your med onc. Good luck Raj. Rocco
Hello Raj,
Glad you are with us. The very first reply you have got from the right man who is into the same treatment that you have started and he knows all the nitty-gritty of it. Besides, he is one of the best Mentors we have in our group. ( MO ). It would be better if you let us know little more about your pathology : Cancer Staging (TNM ), Gleason Score, PSA before treatment started, PSA now etc. and most importantly, your age at diagnosis.
Wish you good results from all treatments!

I always advise to not neglect looking at clinical trials.
Hi Raj. My brother is starting chemo in about 3 weeks. He is 61 yo. His PSA was 2781. Gleason score was 4+4. He had lupron shot and started on casidex pill. So scared, they said it is in all his bones, even his skull bones. Everywhere except his legs. What can he expect from the chemo, hair loss he doesn’t care about but worried about other side effects.he is also enrolled in clinical trial called ODM-201.
