I have been taking for the last six months or so, 3 abiraterone with my evening meal and then one at bed time. This certainly dropped my PSA initially, but now it is rising again. Has anyone any experience of taking one with each meal throughout the day?

Taking Abiraterone with food
Abiraterone should be taken on an empty stomach for at least two hours and for at least an hour later. is very important
4 pills
Thank you for taking the trouble to reply. For the first three years that is exactly how I took it. However one of the researchers who developed Abiraterone has said that taking with food greatly increases it's absorption and he felt originally that taking one tablet per day with food would be the recommended treatment.
So I switched to taking some with food and some before bed and my PSA started to drop again. My consultant is aware of what I am doing and has said that oncologists are aware that food increases absorption and he has not advised me to return to the standard empty stomach pathway.
Now recently my PSA has started to rise again and I wondered if anyone had experimented with spreading the taking of the drug at regular intervals.
I take 4 pills in the morning 1 hour no eating. Has work verywell for me.
Since I had very few side effects while taking abiraterone on an empty stomach, my oncologist had me take 4 pills of abiraterone in the morning with a light breakfast to increase potency. It worked for several months keeping my PSA stable, but eventually my PSA started to rise.
I would not take Aberaterone like that at all. Most people I know and have heard of and read about take Aberaterone in the morning at around 2 hours before breakfast and all four together. They have to be taken together. And, while you can't take them with the meal, they should be taken at least two hours before a meal and at least two hours after a meal. When you take them at bed time, your stomach will remain empty for a good few hours and the active incredient can't be released as well as when you have food two or three hours after taking it. This is what our doctors told us anyway. And we stick to that routine. My husband takes it every morning at 6AM and we have breakfast at 8AM. Prednisolone twice daily 5 mg with a meal. Hope this helps.

My expert Mo told me that often when zytiga fails it is not being absorbed, since I had no side effects and pristine liver numbers she suggested taking in morning all 4 pills with a high fat breakfast ,I idid ,liver remained pristine ,and I got about another 10 months with zytiga with no side effects. Food increases absorption of zytiga according to Harvard researchers
It is interesting how different people get advised so differently on. My husband used to take Aberaterone in the middle of the night until our oncologist pointed out what I had thought all along - that closer to meals is better for proper absorbtion. But we were still advised against taking it closer than two hours to mealtime not to mention with the meal. But I suppose once the medication stops working we could still try taking it closer to meals...
