Moving on to radiotherapy

Met with the oncologist today. Results of CT scan show a tumor that has spread from the prostate and is putting pressure on the colon. Hence the constipation, pain and constant urge to go.

Radiotherapy and opioids are the course of action. Would be interested in hearing others experiences with radiotherapy and Targin.

This should help. You may suffer some bleeds from the bowel but generally worth it. How many sessions are you having

Not sure Bryan. Meeting with the radiation oncologist in a few hours. How long ago did you have it?

This month marks a year since my 40 radiation treatments. They were more lengthy than a lot of others due to the fact the prostate had been removed 6 years earlier. Some slight discomfort was all.

Hope all went okay with your meeting.

Thanks for your reply and glad all ok. I will have 3 golden seeds inserted in my prostate ( or the cancerous mass that was my prostate) followed by 39 treatments. At this stage I am not sure of the schedule of treatments (i.e. Are the consecutive days?). There is some concern about the bowel wall. I must say the Targin has made me feel a lot better!

Bryan,

Seeds in now and planning scans done. 39 sessions scheduled from August 8.

Have heard nothing but good things re: the seeds. They give the lazer a dedicated target to hit. I'm certain the treatments will be Mon thru Fri except for holidays. It's all over in a month-and-a-half. Best of luck to you, sir.

Have had radiation on hip, a number of ribs, sacrum, vertebrae, and a lesion in my cerebellum. Had to have some of the ribs done twice, however pain has returned on some of those also. I hope I am not typical for everyone's sake. I have been diagnosed 3 years and had a met on pubic bone when I was diagnosed so obviously my cancer is pretty aggressive. Am on Zytiga right now.

Blessings
