I feel like my Adderall isn’t doing anything. I take 20mg XR in the AM and 20mg IR in the PM. I’m doing everything I’m supposed to and it feels similar to a sugar pill? Is that normal? Anyone else? Please help :)

Hi adhdpeachykeen! 😊Whilst I'm fairly new here myself, and although I haven't been on adderall, I did experience something like this when I moved from 36mg to 50mg of Concerta XL.

I am guessing that this is the first adhd medication you have been on? It sometimes takes people to try out a couple different types before finding one that suits them 😉 I personally went from Concerta, to Xaggitin to now being on Elvanse, so everybody is different in finding what works best for them.

It could also be the dosage as well, and you may need to move to a higher mg on the Adderall for you to feel any effect. Ultimately working along side your doctor, or provider of your medication to help get you the best outcome.

Hopefully this helps! ☺️

I feel similarly and I’m a bit disappointed. I was hoping for amazing results, I suppose. I actually feel like it’s having the opposite effect and I’m finding I need more naps during the day.

I'm also on Adderall, although a higher dosage. I like it better than other things I've tried, but the same medication can behave wildly differently for different people sometimes. It takes a bit of patience to work on getting dosage right, and probably trying multiple medications to find what works best.

Definitely keep in touch with your prescriber. If theyre good, they should be willing to discuss their treatment plan--for instance, if not experiencing side effects that make you need to stop the medication, how high does the dosage go before inefficacy suggests trying something else? What other medications do they have experience prescribing for ADHD? It helps to know that even of you aren't where you want yet, that you're on a path, and hopefully adjusting at least once a month while still finding what works.

I have had some issues with meds not really working too. I’ve tried ir and er. Although the genesight teat tells me which meds will have adverse effects, it doesnt tell me which meds will work.
