So today is the third morning of me starting Vyvanse and so far I am just exhausted I can barely keep my eyes open neck muscles are sore as if my head is too heavy to hold up I have a 19 month old baby who's full of energy and I am just miserable any suggestions for anybody I'm only on 10 mg and had anticipated relief I'll be completely honest I had a friend give me an Adderall about a month ago and told me just to see how it made me feel because she thought I had ADHD then I started doing all the research sure enough to get a diagnosis and I know that I was being honest with the doctor there for I trust in this diagnosis why am I so tired on this new drug when the Adderall literally was the first time I finished a load of laundry and I don't remember how long time finished all my chores take care of the baby everybody was showered fed and slept well in one day trial with Adderall I felt great it was afraid to tell my doctor that I had tried it without a prescription so the first thing she started me on is Vyvanse and I'm having and not so great reaction will this sleeping us go away or is it possible this is just not the correct medication?

10mg isn’t a typical starting dose. I’m on 50mg, and get these symptoms when I forget to take my vyvanse.

Well today is my fourth day and I haven't taken it yet because I feel like it's wasting my time I'm discouraged and emotional because I want to reach out to the doctor but I don't want to seem as though I'm only drug seeking I told her and explain to her how excited I was about getting help and getting my life together and she starts me out on a 10 mg dose and I've read many many articles most people are started out on 30 so again I feel like it's personal or don't know cuz we I have never dealt with this diagnosis I'm still scattered losing things I have a 19-month-old baby I can't keep up with I mean I am keeping up with him but I still feel like everything is spiraling out of control it's only been one week and I wanted to help now instantly felt better and here I am discouraged crying and Scattered when is appropriate to reach out my appointment is Wednesday that I set up and she asked me why and I thought to myself well because we're supposed to be checking up every week I just don't know what to think? Should I wait till my appointment on Wednesday or do I shoot her an email?

I was diagnosed by a psychiatrist, and started with methylphenidate, that didn’t work for me, due to side effects.

Then they put me on short acting dex, but I kept increasing my dose, till I was on 50mg a day, which translates roughly to 160mg Vyvanse. So I eventually crashed, totally worn out. I was honest to my doctor, and he made me quit ‘cold turkey’ for 2 weeks, to get back to my unmedicated self.

Bupropion was next, max dose 450mg but didn’t notice any improvements.

Intuniv was added. That was the toughest medication in terms of side-effects. My body had to adjust, but eventually it changed everything for me, finally peace of mind. It helped with sleep, concentration, emotions and for the first time, I knew this was helpful.

bupropion made things difficult after a few months and had to quit. Next issue arrised because without the bupropion, Intuniv made me tired during the day.

Got back to my psychiatrist and I got one last chance to try vyvanse, and 50mg (14. 5 mg dex) turned out to be a perfect combination.

So yes, return to your doctor, explain your issues - honesty is important, because you need to built a connection and this takes time, specifically to find the medication that works for you.

It’s trial and error, and sometimes it takes a long time to find the one that helps. I also thought that I was drug seeking, but I had to experience a crash, to find relieve in a medicine that is registered for children…

Find a doctor that specializes in ADHD, they’ll know what to prescribe and when, plus they’ll understand what patients like us, have to go through.

Take care! Don’t be afraid and explain that 10mg vyvanse is not the same like 10mg IR dex. Which could be a starting dose.

Thank you for the response and I did reach out to my psychiatrist and she raised it by 10 more milligrams for now told me to keep in touch in the next 3 to 4 days she responds very fast and she's very understanding she is in fact an ADHD specialist so I have faith in her helping me to reach my best potential through meds as well as I'm starting therapy January 9th so this is going to be the beginning of a new path I do need to be patient I was just so excited and thought that I would have the same results as trying something on my own but that's not the way this works and I want to be patient and make sure that I'm not just seeking something that gave me temporary relief I want relief Beyond playing around with these meds on my own I definitely want my Doctor Who is knowledgeable in this area to be the one who's in charge as well as me giving input I just need to get past the being afraid of letting her know and I'll get there eventually as I get to know her but again thank you and I'm glad you're feeling better because I know how debilitating this condition can be.

always follow your intuition! You did the right thing and It’s not only about medication. Therapy is also important and I’m still learning new things about myself 😊

some days I get tired, and realise I need to

Rest, on the days I rest after a good nights sleep it’s easier! I was having headaches but they cleared after 6 days, so hang on in there , it’s takes time for the body to adjust , plus 10 mg really low, what dose of adderall did you take?

I tried a 40 mg xr and felt like I did in my very best days in my early twenties I was patient with my very wild grandson and spent quality time with him as where regularly I cannot be in the same room with him for more than 10/ 15 minutes because he doesn't listen to me and finished my laundry as well as cooked dinner, then went to work for 5 hours and came home and slept perfectly fine I just hope to find a long term dose of any of the meds that will work. I did have Welbutrin previously prescribed about 7 years ago for anxiety and it made me feel awful and hide in my house until it wore off so I saw a huge difference in the two meds, I did reach out to my Dr and she is going slow and raised my dose to 20mg of Vyvanse for now but is very understanding and told me to touch base in 3 or 4 days so I am confident that we will find it eventually and thank you for responding.

The first step in medicinal treatment of most ADHD drugs is titration, which is finding the most effective dose, with the least side-effects. Everyone is different some people need 60mg, some people feel over stimulated at 20mg... Stratera wasn't very effective for me and the side effects made me feel ill so I stopped that and tried XR. It takes time, communicate with your provider.
