I started a bachelors degree straight out of high school and did not complete it so I attended a college to get a diploma. In Australia, you can get a loan called a HECS or VET fee and you have to pay it back once you start earning a specified amount of money. I don’t know whether I should pursue a Bachelor in Traditional Chinese Medicine or not but I have always found it interesting. What are somethings you would consider before making such a big decision. I’m 26 now and have always wanted to travel abroad to see the world a bit more.
Hi all, I have trouble making decisio... - CHADD's Adult ADH...
Hi all, I have trouble making decisions for myself as an adult due to trauma in Childhood, I always have a fear of not trusting myself.
Read The Happiness Trap.
It's a book all about mindfulness as a mental health strategy. There's a bit where the author tells a story pf a patient who came to him and said "I work all the time, and I am miserable. I have no time for anything, including my family." The doctor asks him why he feels he needs to work so much, and the guy says it's because he wants to travel and see the world, and experience other cultures. The doctor advises him to go to an ethnic restaurant, or a museum, if he wants to experience other cultures.
Of course the guy says "it's not the same", the doctor says something like "of course it's not, but it's something you can do now". Don't give up on travelling, but don't let that future want take away from present happiness. If you want something, then work for it, but don't forget to be happy in the present.
Think of it like this: you have values, not wants. The guy in that example values diversity and experience and other cultures. Values are present and affirmative and are at the root of who you are. Defining your values will help you with other life decisions too. Don't think of it as "what do I want to study?", think of the question as "what course of study would I most value?"
Just because you find it interesting can you earn a decent living with a iimited knowledge of Chinese medicine ?
As for travel not a good time until COVID stops thrusting its ugly head and besides takes $$$$$$$ DO you have it???? consider do you have the concentration ability to complete the course > Can you earn a decent living with three or 4 years of an education in Chinese Medicine . will this be exciting to you - not just interesting - Do you have a real passion for this ?? If not DO not do it / Do what you LOVE and the Money will follow is a great book - BY love means great passion fulfills what you see as your life's mission - that is what I do not like about Government giving money to thiings like taht too many people take things they rew not committed to doing long term just because it is free !
