Yes, being diagnosed forces you to know what makes you tick. I read something (I think it was in THE DRUMMER AND THE GREAT MOUNTAIN... an excellent book on ADHD) that said that no one should have to take the blame for the way their brain is wired. All the years that I hated myself for being "lazy" , never finishing projects, not being able to remember directions, being impulsive, etc, and mostly having overwhelming emotions.... esp anxiety , now were seen through a different lens... ADD. Things were manageable when I was working, but not having structure after retiring has made my symptoms worse. But now I know why. Still, the work ahead of me is daunting.
Thanks Judi1234 Ive been reading “Your Brain’s Not Broken” and just seeing myself in every page has been comforting in itself. It is a trip looking back over your life through this lens that’s for sure. Take a while to adjust to not blaming myself.
I've added your book suggestion to my list. I'm over focused on ADD literature and have several books and the DBT workbook to finish 😵💫 . At least I'm focused on something!! 😂
Just head to Zoom, create a link for a meeting, then copy and paste it into a post on this page and ask for people to join at the specific time! 🙃 Or something like that 😏
haha I thought you might say that 😉 Happy to help you set it up, not sure I qualify as senior as I'm just a spring chicken of 47 😜 But maybe that's another thing I have to come to terms with 😂 Let me know when you think you might want to set one up for? Maybe pm me and we can work it out?
You're still a kid to me... But then so are my own kids... 50 and 52. 😄. So far, no one else seems interested in Zoom. I talked about it several times but no one responded. I will let you know if anyone else shows an interest. Glad we've touched base!
