conference in dallas : anybody going... - CHADD's Adult ADH...
conference in dallas
I'll be there! I live in Texas though, so it's easy for me to do.
Hi Jozlynn, how was the conference? And did anyone else go and tell of their experiences?
Hi Hominid711! It was fantastic. I was a little overwhelmed at times, being amongst a crowd, but the content of the sessions kept me from running away. Thankfully! I learned a lot of new strategies and such that I'm digging deeper into. The sessions left me hungry to learn more. I went mostly with the idea of learning new strategies to use with my clients (I'm a VA to people with ADHD) and left with strategies to use myself that can trickle down to my clients. I will say that being in a room full of people who can all laugh and groan at the same things I did - all related to ADHD - really went a long way towards making me feel like I wasn't alone. You know intellectually that you're not alone with your ADHD, but sometimes it can feel so isolating and this conference made me feel like I was a part of a tribe. That alone was precious!
I'm going; my husband (not add) is coming too so he can learn to live with me (lol) after 25 years of us together and me finally diagnosed !
That's FANTASTIC! I wish my husband was able to attend. I think this is going to be an amazing learning opportunity. It's the first time I'll be able to attend since being diagnosed and I can't wait!
How did you find it? Was it worth it? I'm thinking of perhaps next year.
I personally found it completely worth it. The hardest part for me was that they're cramming a LOT of information into 3 days - so you're there from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, assuming you stay for everything. I live in Dallas, so I went home every evening - but if I'd had a hotel room that I could escape to (I get really overwhelmed in crowds) on occasion, it would've been perfect. However, that's my own personal issue. Many of the people I was there with had no problem with the crowd. Being with other ADHDers like that, learning new strategies, new science, new techniques, new viewpoints, etc., was genuinely AWESOME.
