Hey guys! Random but I’ve found that having a fan on in the room at all times helps with my sound irritability. Because of my ADHD I found myself angry at all sounds outside my room. I have it on in the day and during the night to help me sleep. The sound eases me and helps me sleep through the night. It covers any noises my roommates might be making and I’m less irritated wondering what they’re doing and why they’re doing it. I felt bad that I was being annoyed by others just doing normal everyday things.
It also helps with focus. The droning noise just helps! I hope this helps someone

I agree 100%! It really helped me sleep thru the night when I had roommates. Now it helps block traffic noise & voices from nearby cubicles at work. It really works for me!!!
Same here, except I usually have a TV show on. BUT, the show can’t be too interesting or I’ll be paying too much attention and won’t sleep. And if it’s too mundane it won’t work (I know that sounds weird). At my last place, I had a window unit A/C. And something about the sound it made was just right. I should have made a recording of it. It blocked out background noise, and helped by ‘drowning out’ the thoughts going through my head at 100 mph.
I love this tip!! I also use a humidifier at night and its marketed as “no sound” but thats def a lie, I don’t even mind it because it is so soothing that it ended up working out, I cant stand sleeping in complete silence and hearing random noises
They have noise makers. Sorry I can't remember the correct name for them right now. They are little motors that make a soothing sound.
Sleeping with a TV on interferes with getting into REM sleep. I did this for a while and did not pay much attention to it. Until someone mentioned it to me. If you have to have a TV on to fall asleep. It is best to set your TV to automatically turn off. Have the volume as low as possible and darken the picture.
Dhom makes good mechanical noise machines. Is that what you had in mind? I do like mine, discovered at a hotel that had them in the rooms and loved it.
Charumbe, that's it ! They are not expensive. The first time I saw one was back in 1982. My husband started working nights. He got one to drown out the daytime noises. He had ADHD but was not medicated at that time.
I’m a huge fan of white noise machines for sleep. I have the OG style white noise machine that’s existed for ages. During the day I was using alpha wave music through YouTube to concentrate. And just discovered pink noise, which is like white noise but slightly different, which I listen to through the White Noise app on my iPhone.
Thumbs up for brown noise, reminds me of the aeroplane where i'm just chilled(after i got over the flying phobia!), a bit geeky but star trek next generation is awesome, as it has brown noise playing in the background constantly! 😀
