ADHD Making Peri-Menopause Worse?

I am 56 years old. I am still in peri-menopause. The worst of these symptoms are concentration issues. Brain fog is very strong. Sensations are very distracting also, such as warm flashes. Anyone else experience the same?

I have invoices and taxes I still have to do. I should be in bed but my mind is stressed. These things need to get done very soon.

I am afraid if i go to bed I will oversleep. Alarms do nothing. If my body won’t wake up, I will just lie there.

Yes! However I would say is the other way round - peri menopause makes my ADHD worse. I wholeheartedly recommend HRT if you are not taking it.

Thanks, I agree, but I will skip HRT for now.and try other alternatives.

I'm with you on that. I had a hysterectomy at age 30 and was started on HRT. Everything we tried turned me in a raging bitch, and synthetic estrogen is linked to breast cancer. So, I finally stopped all synthetic hormones and replaced it with bio-identical options (like natural progesterone cream). Worked wonders!!!

Oh my gosh! So sorry to hear that. That must have been a difficult experience to go through, physically and emotionally. 😔💖

It wasn't fun - but it was without a doubt a learning experience. 😏

You really should look into HRT again. The consequences of not taking it are worse. Some old/faulty research regarding HRT have been re-evaluated, and basically thrown out. Every day you wait counts!

Have you talked with your doctor about adjusting your ADHD medication ?

No I haven’t. She thinks I am a druggie with the small amount I do take.

Dear gods. I wonder if they ever behave that way with a diabetic who needs to increase their insulin. 🤨 That kind of attitude really gets to me. I would highly recommend switching doctors if that's her perspective.
