Be more specific if you can ... do you mean starting an exercise program .... or do you mean, like mowing the lawn? ... Starting on WHAT exactly? ... Just give a few examples.

Hi, Thanks to be the one who respond. If speaking specifically, Whenever o got some work or new duty, I feel stuck and don't have courage to things. I feel it a never ending cycle and feel hard to motivate myself. For example accounting work, buying something new for myself, repairs, filing returns, filing work etc.

I set a 5 minute timer to get started.

Try to gamify things and use energetic words, use charts, animation and someone with whom you can feel comfortable to share your progress. You can use graph method. Pomodore technique works well and don't forgot to use CBT methods before starting anything. It work well and without medication I able to complete 80% of my work with joy and balance in life.

Google pomodora. The name comes from the tomato timer the guy used who came up with it.

CBT is Cognitive Behavior Therapy which you need to learn from a therapist. It’s about training your thoughts.

Gamify..,if you can make something feel more like a game. I use the app Brilli for my morning routine. It keeps me on track but also feels like a game because I’m trying to beat the clock.

I have had the same problem all my life. Now since discovering I have ADHD, 1) I take my medication. This reduces the overwhelming feeling of tasks a LOT. 2) I use FocusMate, a way to schedule a work time on line with another person. If there are tasks I must do (and there always are), I pick one and schedule a 25 or 50 minute session on FocusMate that will start in 5 or 10 minutes. When it is time arrives you and your focus friend meet on line, say what you will be working on, mute yourselves and both get to work. Having someone working at the same time 'makes' me focus for the time on my task. At the end of the time a bell rings, you both say how much you accomplished and say good by. This is just the timer method, but it has the wonderful feature of someone, somewhere in the world, who needs to focus too working at the same time as I am and this pushes me from procrastination to act ion for those few minutes. It gets things done for me. I pick the most avoided task to do when I am usually feeling my best. One by one, those overwelming, avoided tasks get done without pain or agony.

You mentioned focusmate in another post which I really appreciate. I am a teacher who cannot seem to get anything done. I am always behind on grading. I am going to try it next school year. My biggest issue is sitting down and starting. I’ll be in the kitchen or doing things around the house and then it is bedtime and no schoolwork got done. If I set an appointment in the morning (or day before) for the evening, then I will HAVE to stop the other stuff and sit down. I assume this is only for “sit down” work. Not I need to clean the house-because you need to be sitting in front of the camera?

Oh no, your task can be cleaning the bathroom, changing the sheets or whatever. You donot need to be in front of the camera. I mention that because I use it mostly for audio editing work which is tedious for me. So, no restrictions on what tasks you want to make yourself tackle. I used a 25 minute session for cleaning the microwave last Wednesday ; a task I've avoided for a year. And got it done in 20 minutes!
