Do any of you ever feel like you can't get a full breath while on medication? I am rather fit and cardiovascular exercise isn't a problem but when I am just sitting and working I find I can't get a full deep breath. I take 30 mg of generic adderall in the morning and occasionally take 7-15 mg after lunch. I more wonder if I need to switch meds or if this is normal

Breathing issues while on meds
Do you keep an eye on your blood pressure and heart rate ? If all is fine there. try taking your Adderall with food
When I first started taking Adderall I had problems with swallowing food. It was loosening some of the muscles in my esophagus. I don't think it was directly because of the meds, but rather the meds increased stress and anxiety issues which I was already dealing with. But maybe it is doing something similar to you. Have you been on that medication for long?
I’ve been on the medication for a while that had to increase my dosage a month or so ago. it doesn’t give me too much anxiety other than it doesn’t feel normal and I just want to make sure I’m not ignoring something
Call your doctor and report these symptoms. And no, these are not typical symptoms, though yes (as you see here) I have heard of similar side effects.
I have only been taking meds for 3 months but have noticed as I’m switching between doses and IR vs XR—trying to figure out the right dosage for me, I have experienced a few instances, which have been within days of changing meds, of rapid heart rate while inactive and find getting deep/full breath during those periods to be impacted. it actually happened today which is why your post caught my eye. I felt fine and was calm/not anxious during at my desk working, but my heart rate was in the 118-125 range for about 30 minutes. Around that time I went to the gym and my heart rate returned to normal post workout. I switched doses on Tuesday, and I wonder if this commonly happens as your body is learning to work with/metabolize a different dose or release method. I started with 10mg IR 2x/day, but had most recently been taking 20mg XR and just switched on Tuesday to 10mg XR with a 5-10mg IR in the afternoon due to not feeling tired late at night and going to bed 2-3 hours after my normal routine on the higher dose XR.
Not ADHD-related advice so I apologize if it's out of context, but did you contract Covid or could you have unknowingly? I did end up getting covid last year and ever since I have had breathing troubles and heart troubles(chest pain etc.). Some of my medications are known to slow breathing, but the main culprit that created my onset breathing and chest pain is more physically relative.
YES I know exactly what you are talking about. I’d like to up my Adderall but if I do that happens to me. I feel like I’m not getting enough air - even though I am. I think what I have figured out is that the drug is causing an anxiety physical response-even though I don’t feel anxious. It is a very uncomfortable feeling and I don’t like it.
