FocusMate is a platform which pairs you with a "study partner" and you keep each other company and keep yourselves accountable while you work. This all happens online via an online video chat. It's like co-working but its all done online.
As someone who has a hard time focusing, I had to try it, right?
A few days ago, I had my co-working session on FocusMate. With a stranger. I felt kind of weird about it at first but I wasn't as anxious as I thought that I would be.
Me and my partner both gave a brief introduction, shared our goals for the session and started working. We turned off microphones while working, but we both knew that the other person was there if either of us needed a second opinion on anything.
What did I think of FocusMate?
It was definitely a unique experience. Especially for someone who is new to co-working. Overall we didn't talk much during the session but I actually got quite alot of work done knowing that I was working with someone else.
I've done 2 more sessions since and I'm surprised with how productive I have been this week.
I've maxed out my 3 free sessions for the week and considering paying the $5 monthly fee for unlimited sessions.
Overall, I really recommend this platform. I'd recommend trying it for tasks that are otherwise boring, and that you have trouble completing when working alone.
If anyone else has used FocusMate, let us know how you found the platform!
