Adderall 30mg immediate-release switch to Vyvanse

Started taking Vyvanse and I have been on Adderall 30mg for about 10 years. I am unable to concentrate/focus and want to know if anyone else has experienced this and if I should be able to focus on taking Vyvanse instead of Adderall within a week.

From my understanding both of these are fast acting in the way that you don't need to build it up your system like anti-depressants. Everyone's different I get super irritable on Adderall and Vyvanse works really well for me. Vyvanse doesn't hit your system immediately like Adderall and will take 1-3 hours to reach it's peak. Looking up the graphs for each might give you a better understanding on what to expect as far as when things kick in after you take them and then drop off.

I would give it some time and see.

What are the doses of each? Regular adderall is a combo of amphetamine salts and levoamphetamine. Vyvanse is straight dextroamphetamine. Perhaps Vyvanse just doesn't work with your system. Adzenys XR ODT is a good long acting adhd med. I take it and find it to be the best I've come across yet.

Hi,

I recently switched from Adderall to Vyvanse because the Addy stopped working for me. I had to keep increasing the dosage over the years because my system began to tolerate it after a while. I took Addy twice a day in order to be able to work throughout the day and not impact too much on my night time. However, my dosage amount was getting high and I felt self conscious when I told my psych that it was not working anymore. (I didnt take it on weekends to make sure I saw a difference during the week)

It did take at least 2 or 3 days i believe for the Vyvanse to kick in 'for me' and it is supposed to be long acting too. Also, like the other person responded, be sure that your physician translates the dosage correctly as it is NOT 1:1 between the two of them. My mg/day on Vyvanse was different than on Addy.

Finally, I found that it is definitely NOT as fast acting as Addy was for me. Addy would hit in about 15-20min, the Vyvanse takes about an hour. I take it and go back to sleep... LoL. When I get back up and moving then I can get focused and on task to get things going well.

--- Good Luck!!

☺️
