It doesn't exist.
Quick disclaimer: I'm not a medical professional and everything written below is purely my opinion. Please talk to your doctor if you're unsatisfied with, or worried, about your treatment.
I've noticed a lot of posts and discussions concerning the negatives of medication, mostly stimulants in our case. I share many of these concerns myself, having been prescribed psychiatric medication since adolescence. Some people will find what works right away and adapt without major issues. Others will take a long time.
Now when I write "The Perfect Drug" it sounds silly and of course it doesn't exist. But that should also put our expectations into perspective. Every medication will have side effects, be them physiological, psychological, or even financial. It's all about compromise. You have to decide if your life on a certain medication is better than it would be without it.
Perhaps it's helping you reach your long-term goals at the cost of your unfiltered personality? This can become a serious dilemma because it touches the core of our identity.
We should all take inventory of our values and goals during treatment, especially if you aren't engaging in some form of therapy or coaching.
For me, finding the right combination of meds was life changing, combined with sustained effort to change on my part. I still have to cope with side effects but they generally get better over time and you learn to work with them.
So be patient and don't give up hope on finding what works for you!
