2 weeks in, the drugs work!!

Two weeks in and I feel like I have unlocked this amazing ability to channel my chaotic energy into whatever I point it at.

Need to clean the apartment? BAM! It's done.

Wanna write a song? BAM! It's done.

Need to workout? BAM! You're in the gym.

Pros :

- Can focus my energy

- Still feel like myself in every other way

- Cleaning is so easy now

Cons:

- Cold hands (someone on here pointed out to me that this isn't uncommon)

- Struggle to sleep most nights, but already had this issue beforehand

- Have to keep my todo lists small otherwise I'll do too much in a day and feel burnt out.

- Don't forget to eat

Also I don't drink coffee anymore 🤔 I think I may have been self medicating without realising.

Thanks for your time readers! Have a good one 😐👍

Photo is of what used to be my junk room and is now immaculately clean and I use it as a music jam pad.

Congratulations! The meds can't take all the credit -- you did that!

I have been given meds for a year now.. can't seem to take them for more than a day or two at a time. They work wonders but I can't get used to them because I keep forgetting to take them, consecutively. Was there a difference between day one and day 14 for you? In terms of effectiveness? Were there any pros or cons that compounded with successive use? I could just take my pills everyday.. but apparently I'd rather ask you. Ugh.

Try "habit stacking". If you have an existing daily habit around the time you need to take your meds, make it the cue. (When I do this...Then I'll do that.)

A year before I was prescribed ADHD meds, I'd finally gotten into a habit of taking vitamins & supplements every day. I simply added one more capsule to the equation.

(I had done the same with taking my vitamins... By taking them with breakfast. I couldn't forget to eat breakfast, because my stomach would let my know if I forgot.)

-----------

Some people have to take their meds when they first wake up. I've heard a couple people on a YouTube channel talking about how they have their meds and a cup of water on the nightstand beside their bed, so they can take their meds when their alarm goes off in the morning. (Reach over to turn off alarm, and pick up water and pills to take.)

That’s how it was with me. They worked from the first pill I took. I could focus, my memory worked, and I was much more productive and organized. Several months in, my boss told me that he didn’t know what I was doing, but to keep it up. That was 2 years ago. I started on Ritalin, then Adderall. Both give me a very dry mouth. I have to remember to drink water too. I just got a new psychiatrist and she wants to get me formally tested, it just fill out the forms. My new doc takes months to get an appointment so I figured while I wait I’ll continue to have my doctor prescribe it. Oh no, that’s not how it works. He called me yesterday and said that he could no longer prescribe me Adderall because the new doctor prescribed me some in February. I don’t know what I’m going to do now, I can’t go unmedicated too long without people noticing. (My boss). Guess I’ll start with a call to the new doc with the truth. Hope I haven’t screwed my self.
