Changing physicians!
Hello, Lady67~
That's a tough one for sure! One suggestion that I have for you is to contact your previous doctor, and get a referral to a friendly doctor. Their nurses might also be able to help you.
Don't know where you live, but there is a list of of ADHD specialists through different organizations including CHADD:
chadd.org/organization-dire...
and through ADDitude Magazine:
additudemag.com/find-adhd-d...
Hope these ideas help you out. I had to switch doctors as well to get treatment, but it's finally helping!
Best regards~

This suggestion may seem disconcerting at first, but in the long run, will probably be better off in the long run. From my experience, the best psychiatrists seem to be out of network and don't accept insurance. So, you will have to end up doing self-pay for quality adhd healthcare. Whether or not this is reimbursed by Medicare, I can't say, as I am not familiar with the process. Yes, there are good doctors that accept insurance/Medicare, but I have found this to be the exception, not the norm. Check out psychologytoday in addition to the sites mentioned in the previous reply, as you can filter results to only display results to show only doctors that accept Medicare. Hope that helps. The best doctors that don't accept insurance happen to be easier to find in yelp, Google searches, etc. The good ones that take insurance, from my experience, are bad at self promotion, and require some digging to find. They are there and do exist, however it will take research, diligence and a bit of luck on your part. But don't give up! Ask around, post on forums like these, search on yelp, zocdoc, etc, and keep us updated. Good luck and stay safe 💌
