Diagnosed with adult ADHD this year doesn’t stop me from wanting to do more for myself specially having 2 of my 3 children with ADHD. I don’t make a lot of money and decided to go back to college to earn my bachelors degree. I have terrible memory sometimes. I stress on how I’ll pay for college and loans. Is it worth putting all this money and time away from my kids? I have very bad memory and am worried about my study habits affecting college grades.

I want to register for fall college. I have been stressing how I am going to pay for college.
Those are valid concerns. You mentioned your terrible memory, but how was school for you before? Could you remember what you needed to? With regards to making more money, obviously that’s always nice to have more, but I think we fool ourselves into thinking that will mean less stress. Sometimes higher paying jobs are also higher in stress. I know for myself, it doesn’t matter how much money I have because I just can’t manage it successfully! It’s so frustrating, but that’s just beyond my abilities. With that being said, I know things can be easier when you can order out instead of cooking, or higher someone to clean when that is just beyond one’s ability. Often times I find that if I tweak what I have, instead of starting from scratch, I can do more. I don’t know if any of that is helpful, but maybe just a different viewpoint to help come to a decision?
I would start by taking a very light course load. You need to build good work habits. Truthfully it's probably, going to be harder for you than most people even with medication. I dropped out of college a bunch of times. However that doesn't mean you can't succeed or most certainly shouldn't try. I recommend getting a therapist and or an ADHD coach to help you Develop organizational skills and study skills. I'd also recommend tutoring you school should have resources. Ask for help from your teachers and fellow students. You are going to have learn how to learn. I don't know about paying for college. You can go to a community college for the first two years and the pale grant should cover it. You can look at other grants for school too. If your ADHD has effected your employment you qualify for disability and you can get money to go to school through the division of vocational rehabilitation. I think you have to have a disability for vocational rehabilitation but its definitely worth checking out. As I can recall they paid for some of my school and they may also provide resources to help you with school tutors maybe an ADHD coach I would ask them what they can offer you.
