How to improve cognitive abilities?

I’m asking because I’m curious to see if there’s anything specifically that can be done to better process information to better learn and retain things without getting overwhelmed. If anyone knows what I’m talking about please let me know lol. Thanks 😊

Hi AmethystRain~

There are a few ways to help yourself remember things better, and are adapted especially for us ADHD'ers.

This article is specifically for reading; verywellmind.com/rememberin...

Another way to retain things is by writing them down. It sounds odd, but I take notes during conversations. This way, I will remember the important item I've agreed to do.

Using a white board helps me too. I'll write stuff for day, plus long term stuff with dates, etc.

Boosting your cognitive abilities generally comes from a few different areas of our life, from what I've read and researched. It's a fact (Unfortunately!!##@%^) that our cognitive abilities decline with age. However, there some things you can do to boost them. This article goes into some of them.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Here's a few things I personally do to stay alert~

1. Take vitamin B12

2. Take vitamin D

3. Take omegas (Flax, Borage and Fatty acids) in one tablet

4. Workout everyday- Pilates mat routine, and half an hour of eliptical

5. Go to bed same time (as much as possible, excepting illness, etc)

6. Get up at same time

7. Read something interesting; learn something new

I'm sure others have other suggestions and/or ideas. Hope that this helped you out.

A supplement that really helps me with memory is Ginkgo Biloba. There are many nootropics that help with cognitive function too. My son takes Mind Lab pro as a base and then adds to that. This member has a lot of well researched info on supplehealthunlocked.com/user/ecl...

Also nootropicsexpert.com GatsbyCat's suggestions are excellent. I'm a big note taker and maker. I swear I keep 3m in business with the amount of Postit's I use. I like them because I can lay them out as a priority list that can be changed easily. Good Luck!

Hey! I totally understand what you’re asking!

Do you have an idea of how you best learn?

I am a very physical learner and can comprehend information best when it’s given in a similar way as a story. Sounds silly but my brain can link the events and Information to other things which trigger my memory much better than if it were written as terms on flash cards.
