Can adhd mimick symptoms of ocd? Because I was diagnosed with adhd in 9th grade and symptoms of ocd didn't start until after I was diagnosed with adhd and put on antidepressants. And it also seemed like the ocd like symptoms started after I was put on adderall but got exacerbated after they took me off the adderall. Any advice?

I feel the same way when I’m adderall- I have a lot of OCD tendencies that I don’t have while not taking a stimulant. Do you feel likes yours is just as bad when you’re not taking the adderall?

I haven’t taken the adderall in 13 years

If I went back on it; would there be a chance my ocd symptoms went away!

I’m not sure.... I’m curious, since you stopped taking adderall, what types of things do you do to help manage your ADHD symptoms?

So the whole point of stimulants for people like us is to force the brain to do exactly the opposite of what it normally does. This is not a fine science. Everyone is different on medication. But what it's supposed to do is completely focus the brain to task oriented things. Things we struggle with when not on meds. It won't be normal behavior because it is "medicated" behavior. When I do things on meds- it isn't like a typical person..It's very detailed. It's over the top & has to be perfect. This can absolutely look OCD but it is the medication. One extreme or the other. It's a fake reality but it can be very helpful to those of us that get forgetful, stressed out and overwhelmed doing everyday tasks.

What I did was fine tune my medication dosage, went to instant release to get control of the exact time I spend on medication & have those around me alert me to hyper focus behavior so I can change it. Other than that..... You just decide what you want in life. Meds or just you as you are.

Much luck ❤️

This is so well said- “fake reality” what a good way to describe where I am when I’m on Adderall at work or at home and I’m hyper focused. Thanks for your words of wisdom.
