Not waving but drowning

This is a poem that I showed to a Dr after spending years and years trying to get a referral to to an ADHD specialist to get a diagnosis and medication . The Dr read the poem and said she would send me .

It was written by a lady called Stevie Smith who suffered with mental health problems and for me , it really sums up some of our problems of not being listened to when we most need help

It's so sad...but it does sum up a lot of stuff and asking for help but no one listened. It took me yrs to finally be diagnosed my therapist sent me about a month ago and Wednesday I found out that she is leaving the clinic. I feel so sad, about this.

Oh no , let's just hope you get someone with a little empathy and kindness . That's quite a coincidence really because the Dr in my post who helped me has just left the surgery where I attend , but luckily the specialist I see is still the same one who diagnosed me

It is a sad poem but very simple and powerful , I only found it because it wasi in a book of birthday poems I was looking at and thought " that's me ""
