It can be too easy to sit down with social media and lose a couple hours of time. What can you do to limit your time online? Read "Down the Rabbit Hole: The Internet, Social Media, and ADHD" at bit.ly/nrctimeonline for some suggestions.

I appreciate the article but Dr Russell Barkley’s YouTube video was awful. While it demonstrate our challenges in an unmanaged ADHD it is so very dangerous in that it paints us as useless failures! And no future vision! Whoa. I really hope nobody without ADHD sees it because we will all be doomed as complete failures by them when they hear we have ADHD. Don’t get me wrong, I struggle but I would be damned if someone suggests I am a failure like that at work.
I do notice that I get sucked into social media. The other morning I lost an hour on social media causing me to be late for work. Now I force myself to start getting ready for work by 7 am. If I'm up at 6:45 I can go online for 15 minutes and I set a timer. If I'm up at 6:30 I give myself 30 minutes and set a timer. It's helped. It's made me aware of the time I lose. I also use the pomadoro (sp?) method. I downloaded Focus Keeper. I work for 25 minutes and then I have a 5 minute break. I'll use those 5 minutes to go online but as soon as the timer rings that it's time to go back to work I log off. I know I can go back online in 25 minutes. Both methods have helped me a lot.
