I had a tough day, today at work. I wonder sometimes why customers are the way they are. Then, I wonder if it's just me. then I wonder if I am in the wrong career. Thanks.

How to cope at my job
Everyone has good days bad days ups and downs. Enjoy your weekend!
Out of curiosity, what sort of job do you do?
Are you receiving any compensations for your ADHD?
Also bad days stink but they happen. Sometimes you just gotta pick yourself up, brush dust off, and keep going.
Thank you for responding. I do cashier work, in a fast paced environment with a ton of distractions, and constant changes to the hours I have to work. I guess this job will have to do , for now, as I live in an area with little job opportunity. I have not gone to the human resources department to ask for any accomodations, as I prefer to speak directly to my boss when necessary. Sometimes, the boss understands, and then others the boss does not.
also out of curiosity, are you going to school or planning to? or do you have a degree?
I did get a g.e.d. , thanks. school? would need to get a car, license to drive, car insurance. All good things, but my attention doesn't hold onto these thoughts long enough to do anything about my life. I feel so overwhelmed. Sorry such a long post.
No need to apologize, I’ve read and written much longer posts.
Have you thought about online school? A lot of colleges are offering complete degrees online now. All you would need is access to a computer and internet, which, you have at least one of if you’re on this site.
I think lots of wondering why is part of ADHD. It’s one of those blessing/curse things. It makes us knowledge seekers and connectors of information, but it can also have us ruminating on things that may not be fully understandable. l think it’s particularly this way when it comes to things that arouse strong emotions - like the bad customer. We’re deeply troubled by things like this and all that anxiety/anger/sadness needs an outlet, so we start asking “why?” “Why was this customer so rude?” “Is it my fault or theirs?” “Maybe they’re just really unhappy...or maybe this isn’t the career for me.” As hard as it can be to do, I rely on my logical brain to try to put the brakes on the “why” train. Logic what keeps things on the rails for me (though it can also be a problem b/c I experience illogical or stupid behavior as a personal affront). At any rate, it’s like my “dad voice,” very”is-what-it is.” And it goes something like this: “you will never fully understand what motivates people to behave in a certain way - after all, THEY probably don’t have a clue either, and unlike us hyperaware ADHDers, they probably don’t care.” And, maybe the career isn’t right for you, but for the time being you need a job, so feel free to explore other things, while using your gift for logic to get you through the difficulties of what you’re doing now.
