You cannot be wrong for asking for help and treatment with appropriate medications. Your doctor may seek an experienced psychiatrist's recommended prescription for treatment, but it isn't wrong to ask for help. The worst thing...is not to ask for help.
You go to ask these days, for God’s sake though.
Back it up with some info about what you want after all you don’t want them to know you know more than them .i ask all the time and we have an excellent understanding of each other.its also good to meet in the middle of what there answer is ok.
Good luck
Hi Shandi72. No you are not wrong at all. Although some doctors get irritated because they feel like we (the patients) are stepping into their boundaries of expertise, I have found that the attitude is changing. Older doctors are much more prone to have that kind of attitude and assume that we may be med seeking, but younger doctors seem to understand that we the patients like to have a say in and have an understanding about what we put into our system and how we treat our conditions. They know we know a lot more about medications than we could have 20-25 years ago when we didn’t have the internet to look things up and connect with other patients and exchange facts and experience about our conditions and medications. It’s much better now, we know more and they know it. If your doctor is an old dude with an authoritarian attitude and treats you like a subhuman, find another one. I’ve met a lot of those jerks in my life. They are no good.
