Adult Adhd Self Pace Flexible Degree

I’m wondering after my failed fall semester, maybe traditional campus college isn’t my best bet. Does anyone know of a flexible, adult friendly way to earn a college degree? Or, maybe my current job as a nanny isn’t the most ideal job and I need to get a different job with less hours (I work many 9-10 hour days and overnights when the parents travel)

Hi stjim, there is an online accredited college that has a free business administration degree which I think is good in any field. Here is the link.

uopeople.edu

Good luck

Hello!

There are many online programs -with a big range in costs. A place to try online for free to see if it is a good fit is EdPlus - through ASU and their Global Freshmen Academy. Here is the page: gfa.asu.edu/courses

Hello. University of the People was also recommended. I really would like to try computer science (today and yesterday it looked looks interested) I continue to change direction and need to stick to a college plan once I find one.😕

Hi.

What is your reason for the degree? To find a job in a specific field?

The University of the People looks interesting! You would want to see if the classes would transfer to a different college if you changed to a major they don't offer. I did not see any accreditation, which is important to some employers as well.

Hello,

It takes me forever to reply. I’m so thankful someone out there actually takes time to read my story, so thank you. I can’t seem to earn over 30,000 her year because, I’ve walked out on jobs when they get too intense and have made fast decisions for getting the next job I usually end up doing something I hate or so bottom of the barrel because my self esteem is so low. I want to earn better money, and do what I love ❤️. The question is what do I really love? I was working with a coordinator at my college and she was in career services. I took the Myers Brigg and another test about interests and my results generated about 100 possible careers. So, I have interests in fields like psychology, veterinary and teaching. Then I went into hyper focus on becoming a veterinarian and that stuck. But, I go back and forth and I have a certificate in basic computer info processing where I first began 20 some years ago. It included some accounting. I like computer work, I was really good generating data base reports by doing queries. So, I’m stumped now.

If you would like I have a list of about 100 schools that have free classes. Yes that is my ADD kicking in. I tend to hyper focus in that area. I have about 2000 work from home job sites as well and have never applied to a single one but I can give you lists if you want. Some of the classes are from Yale etc... I found classes on line don't work for me. I end up baking cookie or something. School can be hard. I found that I had to really find my PASSION!!! No matter what I or others said. I am 51 going to school to be a firefighter and paramedic and LOVE it. First time I have really done well. I just never did it because I told myself I could not. ( A lot of firefighters have ADHD though) Good Luck If you want some lists let me know

I would love to get your info about the schools and work from home jobs! I hyperfocus in degree to degree. I’ll research and plan out all the classes needed for, example, psychology or veterinary school.

Maryg66,

How awesome for you! How did you finally figure out your passion? One night I decided to clean my oven instead of study for a big exam! Anyway, I’m hoping an add coach will really help me get on track. I’m also an empty nester and with my only child gone to college It’s time for me to figure out who I want to become. The last 18 years have been about working to feed and shelter the two of us and not much time to focus on me. I’m a little sad he’s not around and tend to seriously hit the couch.....a lot.

I finished my degree as an adult, since I had undiagnosed ADHD the first time around:) You don’t have to be Connecticut resident & they work w you to get credits for job ecperience. Highly recommend this CT state school (not-for-profit) accredited degree:

Hi. Thanks for the info. I mean, how do I even approach this? “Hi I have Add please help me finish something” I just don’t know where to start anymore.

Of course, you need to contact the college! And only you can do that, friend:) Good luck.
