My 15 year old daughter has just started on roaccutane. I’m “trying” to get her to follow a healthy diet now on this medication. She takes the tablet & an antibiotic tablet with a bowl of cereal in the morning! But is now getting diareaha . Any suggestions on what food to take the roaccutane with to help absorption & digestion please?? Thank you. Really need this to work as have tried 12 months on 3 different antibiotics & no improvement in acne. So this is a last resort!

Roaccutane and food?
Hi, this probably doesn’t help but I didn’t change my diet at all when on roaccutane. I didn’t suffer from diarrhoea but it could be the change in diet that has caused this? Roaccutane is brilliant in tackling acne, it always worked for me after about 3 weeks. It got worse for a few days when I was about a week in but then I turned a corner. I had to increase the dosage but I hope all goes to plan for your daughter. I have a teenage daughter and good luck with the diet! It’s probably a battle you don’t need to have though. As long as she eats something with the tablet, it should be fine.
Isotretinoin is very effective and your daughter shouldn’t need an antibiotic as well . It is likely this is causing the diarrhoea. Possibly try more solid food as opposed to cereal. When you say antibiotic, do you mean flucloxacillin? This can cause diarrhoea.
Foods to avoid include: chocolate, cheese, chilli, capsicum, milkshakes, oily food, salty food, deep fried food, fatty food. Basically anything that will cause inflammation in the body.
Drinking more water can help
Best having fats in the diet as it absorbs the tablet better
