Hello community! Since many of us have kids that struggle with fine motor (along with ADHD) - has anyone found good software for doing math assignments at the higher grade levels (Algebra 2, Precalc, Calc) without handwriting? In particular have you tried any of: Efofex, Kiwiwrite, or Equatio? I am trying to find some software that can help my 15 year old son. Thanks.

I assume you are asking about Dictation software. Have you looked at Dragon Dicate?
There is the ability to dictate special vocabulary and train it to type. There are different levels of the program. He would also need a high quality microphone. These programs just type for you, while speaking.
Good luck
Thanks. I’m not looking for dictation software yet - more like a really good math word processor that is easy to use. Some of these also have speech to text, but it would need to have the capability to work with functions, graphs, equations integrals, etc. There is something called ModMath our school uses but it is for lower math levels.
You answer leaves me with more questions.
Dragon Dictate works with Math
talk to do advances math problems using speech to text.
Curious what the goal is? The student should be able speak any of the advanced math problems from some curriculum.
Dragon replaces the student needing to write anything.
I assume this student "should" learn to dictate in the future and therefore this program can do this.
When children learn, the act of writing down something helps them learn. So when that is substituted with dictating they are learning a different skill.
Hope this makes sense.
Good luck!
Have you looked at ModMath? modmath.com/about# I'm not sure about its ability to handle complex equations, but we are experimenting with it for pre-algrebra this year and it's going well. It's only for iPads though the company is working on apps for other platforms.
I haven't heard of any of those apps.
In college, I used MatLab for certain classes. The lab computers also had software by Wolfram, but I don't recall if it was Mathematica or something else.
(I most did my work by hand. My handwriting is only moderately messy. I only used the software when it was required or recommended for the assignment, and it's been over 10 years since I last used any of them.)
In my classes, we use desmos. It can be explored. It’s mainly a graphing calculator though.
I’ve used photomath and solve sometimes. Mostly solves problems though. Desmos is better when making functions and graphing inequalities.
