Alll the professional I have spoken to have said that my daughters problems with spelling and handwriting are all because of adhd and not another learning disability like dyslexia. I am not convinced though. What do others think or have learned from evaluations?

Handwriting and adhd
What problems does she have with spelling and handwriting? My 7 year old struggles with both as well even though he has no learning disabilities and is not behind in school. I assume it's due to his struggles to focus especially on detail work, but our school hasn't really said anything about it yet. Maybe at 7 they're not worried yet?
Handwriting can by messy and rushed in ADHD. However, problems with fine motor skills, which includes handwriting, also occur more often. Does she have problems with buttoning, tying, or cutting? If so, an OT may help. Letter reversals occur for some children when they first start writing in school. This is not an ADHD feature but something that should be followed since, if it continues, will need some help.
My sons handwriting was huge and messy. He would also have trouble knowing where to start on the page, ie would start in the middle rather than the left at the margin. Dr said it is part of the spatial awareness challenges experienced with adhd. It improved greatly with some handwriting support with a teacher at school. Think the meds helped too but definitely the teacher support and practicing was key.
I was wonder the same thing. My grandson fusses about homework and that's what he has nearly every night is spelling. He spends a lot of time guessing even after he's written 10 to 15 words about a five times each and still won't spell the words. Even tried playing games like toss a bean bag and playing hangman that lasted one night.
