I am still in the process of doing my own research and learning about ADHD so I have a million questions. I have read quite a bit that says behavior therapy for children over the age of 6 along with medication can be helpful. We are starting play therapy next week. The current plan is that he will do play therapy weekly for 3 months and then evaluate where we are. Have any of you done behavior therapy and felt like it helped? Have any of you tried both play therapy and behavior therapy? If you have tried one or both with your child what was your experience? It’s so nice to have found a place to ask questions like this. A place where we don’t feel SO different from other families. Thanks in advance for any insight you’re willing to share.

Behavior Therapy or Play Therapy
My son has behavior therapy. A TSS worker cones with that service. The TSS worker goes to school with my son everyday for 3 hours. She sits in the class and defends him when it is assumed he is the culprit of any problem. She redirects him when the teachers needs assistance. And best of all, she is there in real time so show him better ways of handling situations rather than him waiting hours later for me to remind him of better ways of coping in class.
What's TSS stand for? What's a TSS worker?
Both of my grandson see a counselor who does behavioral therapy but she also mixes in some play therapy too. These boys are preteen, early teenage.
The play therapy is board games that have been modified with behavioral therapy question /answer cards. So it's like they're playing a board game but they are also thinking about actions, consequences Etc based on the questions asked during the game. They love going to her
