I haven’t tried Behavior therapy but I was wondering, have you tried non stimulant medication? A 10 year old wanting to be on screens all of the time isn’t too abnormal, even for kids without ADHD. If you’re worried about school work going out the window maybe you could trade off screen time for assignments done? Good luck!
From my experience, behavior therapy only works if your child is able to focus. ADHD can cause kids to be unable to fully comprehend concepts and ideas because they get disinterested so fast. Once oyu find the right medication, then they can be open to behavioral therapy.
My son is also 10 and could not due stimulants. He takes 2 mg of guanfacine we which is a nonstimulant and that has helped. Behaviour therapy did nothing and it really doesnt help kods with adhd. In regards to the screens, os he just watching you tube? Does he play video games? Look more closely at it and it might not be ass bad as you think. Screens get a bad rap but I think they aren't as bad as people say. Is there anything in particular he likes? My son loves video games and watches tons of you tube videos on people playing video games. Yes they are entertaining but in watching them he is learning different tips and tricks and then trying to do it. He working on a whole other level when I watch him building in fortnite or playing call of duty. My brain cant think that fast for all of those different things. Then he talks to other people about video games. I could really go on and on but maybe tet to interact with him and see what he is doing when he is using screens. No different to me then sitting for hrs building model trains or anything else.
