Frustrated

Hi everyone I’m a parent of a 7 year old girl with ADHD and Anxiety. I just joined this group today and I’m looking to find support from others going through the same challenges and I’m a single mom weathering this alone. As parents how do you all manage the daily stress and frustrations that come up? I can’t be alone in feeling this way.

Hi Knittingmama. I'm also a single mom, with a newly diagnosed 9 yr old daughter with ADHD/anxiety. So far, the thing I've found is that I need patience, patience & more patience (more than I even have some days!) because no matter how hard it is for me, I know it's 10x as hard for her. We'll be meeting with her Dr and the school in the next week or so, and figuring out the best ways to help her. Sorry I don't have more advice yet, but you are definitely not alone. Just knowing that can help most days, so feel free to come for support whenever you need it.

I joined a bunch of virtual parent support groups when my little was diagnosed. Eventually I found one that had the support I needed. I found them online through Chadd, CHC and Parents helping Parents. Good luck

Yeah there are none in person in my area so I’m highly considering starting one

Welcome. I'm the mom of a 6 year old boy with ADHD and Anxiety. I have found this board to be really reassuring that I am not alone. It's a great place to discuss meds, treatment, frustrations, and successes. It's wonderful to learn from the hive mind here!

You are not alone. I'm a single mom too and some days I just don't know how we will get through but we do. I rely on prayer alot because I have a belief in a higher power. There is great support on these social groups and you are welcome to reach out anytime. I have found support and ideas to help my and my kids. Blessings

Words of support:

1. You’re not alone. This site never closes!

2. Some have it worse and some have it better. Yes, some households have two parents to help - but only if they both support the diagnosis. I’ve heard of many struggling on here not only with their child’s adhd but also with their spouse’s resistance to accept/support their child’s diagnosis and treatment which makes things even worse!

3. The single best thing I have done is go through parent management training. Look for courses in your community. My confidence shot up after this and I have never looked back.

Be strong, and when you’re not, post here! These parents/caregivers are very experienced. Best to you!
