Hi there, can I possibly get some input? Question: I was just diagnosed w/ ADHD/ADD and I am 54 years old...really? Will this pass on to my son? Is it genetic?? I can tell he seems to mimic me with these signs? TU :)

Welcome to the group. We are happy you found us. In listening to Russell Barkley, a pioneer in research and treatment of children with ADHD, he said there could be a number of reasons children get ADHD: genetics, exposure in the womb and some sort of Incidence before birth.

No one in our family has ADHD.

You could ask more questions with the doctor that gave you the diagnosis. If you have concerns, please speak to your child's doctor so if he needs help he gets it.

I hope you are also getting assistance with any symptoms you are experiencing.

We are always here for you. If you have questions you can search old messages that were posted.

We are all in this together. Take care and big hugs.
