I’m mom to a 7 year old with ADHD. He was diagnosed in kindergarten, though dad and I suspected since age 3/4. He has primarily inattentive type that makes school work difficult. His teachers describe him as just being “in his head”. At home, however, we have issues with defiance and frustration over his lack of self-control and follow-through with simple tasks. He has been on 2 different medications, varying doses of each, and we still have unwanted side effects. Starting behavioral counseling soon, and just hoping to find a community of support, along with ideas to create a happy healthy relationship with my son!
