Has anyone established an IEP/504 plan in the virtual space?
My son is in 5th grade and is managing the remote school stuff relatively well, but sometimes gets lost in what he has done, but forgotten to turn in. Wondering if now is the best time or should I wait for in person.

Yes, you should make the request and in writing with documentation from the person who have your child his diagnosis, with a letter about what your son needs to help him learn best. I would not wait, we have no idea when we are going back to in person learning. If you are asking for an IEP, your son would need to have an assessment. This is a little harder during distance learning. If you are asking for a 504 plan usually the documentation "should" be enough. When asking for accommodations, these tools will not "modify" his work, they will just assist him in being able to learn eaiser. For example, having auditory books for required text, this help them learn with a multi sensory method ( they run their finger under the line, they hear it and they read it), this supports many children who struggle with reading.
For us, being able to turn in work late without penalty has helps us the most. There are times the work is so overwhelming, he needs extra time to complete it. One you may consider is camara off for distance learning. Many of our kids learn best by moving around and when teachers and other kids see this it might impact opinions about them.
CHADD has many great recommendations. You could also do a search for previous message to help.
