Update/results with residential facility- for son 8 with ADHD/ODD

As always I love sharing the results of the time invested for our son who’s almost done completing residential treatment. I attached his report card showing the results from 1st and 2nd quarter of 2nd grade.

It’s not for everyone and the hardest decision we’ve had to make as parents, but short term investment for long term results. We are grateful we had this opportunity to give him a road to success he deserved as all children do.

Keep pushing through parents! It CAN get better.

Thanks so much for sharing, can you also share some of the tools they used to help him become successful? Like medication (new or different?, thearpy?).

You must be so proud and he must feel great about becoming successful.

Please keep us all posted, there is someone out there considering this option.

Take care,

Yes absolutely! It’s a very simple yet structured program. It’s goal oriented, and driven by daily statistics of a point system to help them understand the behavior and what to work towards. The school setting is small groups and work at their abilities and challenges their inability’s, Daily ongoing support, therapy available 5 days a week, group therapy with the other peers to learn how to socialize. The biggest difference is the consistency of staff that invested and believed in him.

He is on medication but a very low dose of adderal and tenex . Which has helped tremendously.

We are so proud and grateful! I love sharing to show parents there are options, through this hard time of distance we know it’s long term growth.

Glad to share!

What an amazing place!

Our son who is 13 years old and just graduated from middle school. He was asked to write an exit essay. I almost started crying when I read it. His 6th grade year was the worst year ever!! Not sure how we survived it, but it taught us a lot and made us stronger.

What he said was he had no teachers that really cared about him. I so wish I could carry that and show the teachers that he doesn't "click" with going forward, how important the connection needs to be with our kids.

Thanks again, such a wonderful success.

I am so sorry that was his exit memory, I can’t imagine how that must have felt as parents especially when our kids spend so much time at school and the teachers/staff being so influential to our children.

But I am glad to hear it made you stronger

and you were able to learn from the experience. Sometimes we have to weather a storm to progress, I know the feeling.

I hope he has a fresh new start in 7th grade!!!! I wish you and your family continued success!
