Latest research on Omega-3 and ADHD:

Research was done in Taiwan where people eat more fish in their diet, so results should be even better in North America and places where fish is not routinely consumed. This site sells fish so they have a reason to post the research, but the research itself is reliable. Site was recommended to me by Capt. Joseph Hibbeln, a leading prevention scientist for the National Institute of Health. Google Capt. Hibbeln and see his actual research papers, which will be more detailed, but he recommends this site as they will do the research for you and give good explanations that are easy to understand. This is not a criticism of medication as meds have been proven to work, just additional information on other ways to help your children and yourself. Omega-3s don't just help with ADHD, they help everyone function better, so absolutely no stigma in using. Eat more fish, not fried in vegetable oils; tuna packed in water or olive oil, not packed in vegetable oil. It is the balance of 3-6-9 that is important and the American diet is swamped in 6 from soy, corn, canola and all the rest. Because we get so much 6, at least 1000 mg of 3 (EPA & DHA) are needed to correct the balance, so often those people who say "I tried it and it didn't do anything" probably weren't eating/taking enough. The Omega-3 in flax seed, etc, is a different kind that must be processed in the body and is converted very inefficiently, at about 5%, so you really need fish.
