Welcome to No. CA, I grew up in Oakland CA. When you say Bay Area what do you mean.
In a simple search I found a group of moms that meet in Berkeley. If this doesn't fit your needs you could look on the CHADD website or on this website.
It's an amazing place to live, once you get settled you will find wonderful opportunities for your children.
Hope your move goes smoothly.
Best!

HI!
We live in Sunnyvale, (borders Santa Clara) and I’ll be honest... the medical resources are slim in the South Bay. I was on a waiting list for 6 months for a psychiatrist at Stanford Hospital for my son. Now that I have him there, it’s great medical care and covered by my insurance. Psychologists are mostly out of pocket. What I will say, is that the school systems are very good w/504’s, IEP’s, extra support, good communication and the ability to choose different styles of schools (parent participation, charters, etc). Even at the middle school level. My son’s school has weekly sessions where students are pulled from class to have either group or 1x1’s with supervised interns working on clinical hours. It’s great for us, since it’s a big win. Free for us, and the clinician gets hours. Also it’s during school, so I’m not having to drive. I don’t use it as a main treatment option for him, but it is good for him. The interns know the other students and teachers so helps with his social life on campus. Socially there are loads of opportunities for OT, camps, day camps, scouting, clubs, groups, sports etc. Girl focused, boy focused, alternate gender focused.
I’d look now, get on a waiting list. Many of the PCP’s will bridge that gap to fill prescriptions while you are waiting (FYI). If you need a pediatrician, I have an amazing one in Mt. View (15 mins from Santa Clara). PM me if you have more detailed questions~
Welcome to the South Bay~
