Older parent, teen daughter

I'm a retired father of a 14 year-old daughter. She's bright, tapped as a GATE student, but she's not doing well socially or academically. And she's got real anger and lying issues. Every day is a challenge.

Does she have a counselor, therapist, social worker to talk to? My 15 year old son has a social worker who he feels comfortable talking to about his anger/choices/peers. Good luck!

She has a therapist, but I feel like she's in over her head with my daughter. But my daughter likes her, and it's so tough finding anyone with the qualifications who's taking patients AND takes the insurance. Having SOMEONE consistently is better than nothing.

She's just angry and sad all the time. It's hard to tell where the ADHD stops and the meds begin. I think she may need mood-levelers but her doc is very conservative, moves slowly on changing.

My 13 year old grandson had to go on Wellbutrin as well as intuniv for his ADHD. Actually took awhile for him to stabilize with all this but he is doing really well in 8th grade.

He still spends too much time by himself and he is at least pleasant to be around most of the time
