Hello everyone! I was wondering if any if you are from Mississippi and if you are is CBD oil ok for children to be on in school? I also saw hemp oil at walmart(shocking) and I was wondering because it seems most medicines are not going to work since my son has both ADHD and ODD. We have taking him off of focalin xr (it made him lose 7 lbs in 3 weeks) and we also switched clinics since the nurse there said she saw no problem with him losing that much weight and was gonna take him off of medicine forever cause she didn't believe he has it. (I did report her.) My son is now on a mood stabilizer 1 mg it starts with a g (sorry I can't remember the name) so far I seen his mood get a tiny bit better but we also just started the medicine too. We are trying him on that by itself for a month yo see how he does with it and if not then next month we are trying stratera and the mood medicine.

Are you seeing at Pediatric psychiatrist? That is the proper person to work on medication and appetite issues ( they are comfortable with children with 2 different conditions).

There are health care plan that are written with the school district and this is where things can be written in by a licensed doctor. It is my understanding that a proper RX has to be given to the school in order for any medication to be given to a child.

I had an experience where my sons medication expired and the school called the doctor because they refused to give it to him and didn't even call me. They are very, very strict about medication because they are liable so the doctor has to write it and give it to the school.

Best of luck in finding what is best for your child.

No he sees a behavioral therapist and they think he is fine to where he doesn't really need to see anyone else. He has been on 3 different medicines that's including the focalin xr. I'm ok with them this is his 3rd therapist and they come highly recommended. My son loves seeing them as well more then he did the others. (His therapist also has ADHDand ODD) I'm gonna look into and see if our insurance will cover the doc. Thank you mam!

We have tried CBD oil and didn’t have much success with it. Our naturapathic doctor prescribed it. She did say that you cannot use CBD oil with a stimulant. One is an upper and one is a downer. It’s all natural and definitely worth a try though. It can’t hurt anything. Do you have a good naturopathic doc in your area?

I have found using Vayarin with Concerta to be the best mix for my kiddo. Along with a strict diet, and vitamin supplements.

Good luck!! The struggle is real!

If you feel your child needs something in the school system then you will need to work with a doctor that is able to prescribe and work with the school system and it has to be able to control your childs symptoms. London acting medications do things. I understand you are working with a behavior specialist, but often that is not enough for our kids. If you don't have the right doctor helping you it can make a dig difference.

Good luck.
