I was asked to go see a pediatric neurologist.. Could he act as a psychiatrist or psychologist
Adhd: I was asked to go see a pediatric... - CHADD's ADHD Pare...
Adhd
My son sees a pediatric neurologist at a Children's Specialized Hospital. She is the one who prescribes his adhd medicine, follows his progress, makes recommendations for the school, and refers him for other services OT, behavioral therapy and if needed to a psychiatrist. They will observe your child, track vitals, etc...but a big part of the discussion is how do you feel things are going and what do you think your child needs.
SandyNJ are you happy with your pediatric neurologist? If so would you refer her name? I live in NJ near Children’s Specialized Hospital. Any advice on choosing one?
Hi. I need to correct my statement. His previous doctor was specifically pediatric neurologist. He is no longer there and he currently sees Nita Vaswani at the Mountainside location. She is a behavioral developmental pediatrician. Look it up. Same as I described above. She can refer you to get an assessment done and they have someone on staff who would do the assessment.
How old is your child?
My school asked me to have my some evaluated by a neurologist as well. Unfortunately because there is no brain trauma of any kind he didn’t qualify to see one in CHOP where we live (NJ/PA). But he does qualify for their ADHD/ADD program. Which could include therapy and OT. I pray you find one that fits for your family.
My son was seen by a pediatric neurologist who told us he wasn’t autistic. She said if we wanted to see if he was in the spectrum we would have to take him to a neuropsychologist. Never heard from her again and she didn’t make any recommendations.
I took my grandson to a pediatric neurologist. After an evaluation she said she didn't think there was any kind of brain damage or trauma that she could help him with. So we just go to a psychiatrist for his medication and see a behavioral therapist to help him control himself
Okay thanks
